Narrative

People Incorporated offers Adult Foster Care (AFC) as an choice for people on MassHealth with chronic health care needs. People in AFC need help with daily living skills. They wish to continue living an active lifestyle in the community. The AFC program allows people to enjoy the comforts and feeling of a private home with help from a paid family or non-family caregiver.

The AFC program provides nursing care management to support the family as well as the person. The registered nurse and case manager schedule regular home visits to monitor the placement. They offer as any necessary training the family may need. People Incorporated also provides 24-hour emergency support.

The caregiver takes advantage of extra room in their house or apartment to make a difference in the life of someone who needs help.  They can earn a tax free stipend for their efforts. Caregivers also receive Alternate Care Services (Respite) from People Incorporated. Respite allows them to have time away for an evening or vacation.
